On Tuesday 27th March, we were delighted to welcome children and teachers from the Powell Elementary School, close by to Transformer on P Street. Having had the opportunity to explore the lab and chat about the Tsunami in Japan, the children took turns to take a vial of tears from the crate. We then all went down to the Tidal Basin on the Bus. Having selected a tree to pour the tears onto, each of the children carefully placed their tears on what was decided to be one of the original Cherry trees. Together everyone shared their thoughts and the sun shone. Across the Basin, Michelle Obama, the first lady was planting and watering one of the new Cherry Trees, if only she had known.
